"Studio of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics" became functional in January 2010 and was properly established with
lab area and infrastructure on June 17, 2010, under the Biotech Division. The objective of studio is to make IHBT self sufficient for Bioinformatics related projects, participate in the various ongoing projects where Bioinformatics expertise is required and take novel initiatives. The studio aims to develop new algorithms, Bioinformatics softwares, servers and dynamic databases and deliver high quality research in the field.
Within such a short span, the Studio of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics today stands as one of the most contemporary Bioinformatics labs of the nation, practicing most advanced approaches and technologies, addressing one of the most challenging topics of the field and competing globally alongwith impressive progress made.

The Studio has high speed optical internet connection, medium
to high range workstations with ultrasharp monitors, desktops, printers and two 10
KVA UPS. Also the Studio has access to the next generation sequencing facility, Illumina Genome Analyzer II and PacBio Sequencers.
In order to meet the challenges raised by next generations sequencing and systems
biology approach, the Studio aims to make a niche in high performance computing by raising and practicing such facilities.
In this direction, we have acquired fleet of high performance workstations with Tesla K20/40 GPU
based workstations having 128-516 GB RAM and upto 3.00 GHz, ~14-core processors, where we are developing CUDA based massively parallel codes and algorithms.
Besides this, we have got two High Performance Cluster server having upto 9 and 10 nodes, more 400 total cores, > 100 TB storage Linux cluster sytems with infiniband connectivity, giving an avenue for handsome distributed computing. The Studio has also got
five dedicated servers with some of them having 48 cores, 256 GB Memory and storage 8-20 TB each. For this all facility, we thank our funders like the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, Department of Science & Technology (GoI), Indian Council of Agricultural
Research(ICAR) and CSIR, the agencies in national service which have generously funded our research projects and trusted our capacity.
These all hardwares are here to run days and nights for many dream projects to become true: be it computational regulomics and epigenomics, be it the new challenges of next generations sequencing or be it non-codings and gene regulation. With the engines of Linux, some pythons slide through the mystery holes of science, while some balls of PERLS sieve the expressions of nature, to address the CODE of Life and conduct them parallell with C/C++!
